Audiology Clinic
This is one of the most modern, fully equipped and well furnished unit of Audilogy in the country which was initially established with the funds provided by Mrs. Mumtaz Alavi and later on extensively equipped by Rotary Club of Karachi Midtown. This unit is being run under the supervision of highly qualified Audiologist Dr. Tahira Aleem and our other trained teachers. Apart from providing free services to our deaf students, Dr. Tahira Aleem has been permitted to see private patients as well. After assessment, the hearing aids are recommended and provided to the deaf children. Free Field Testing is also available at this unit. Approximately more than 400 hearing impaired children are being tested annually. In this section we have got the following units functioning as under:-
1.AUDITORY EVOKED POTENTIAL SYSTEM
Where the infants and mentally retarded are tested. These tests are called the objective tests and are quiet expensive but we do the same free of cost for our students. This valuable equipment and other allied material were donated by Rotary Club of Karachi Midtown.
2. SOUND PROOF HEARING TESTING ROOM
Each and every child's test is carried out through Pure Tone Audiometer, which is called subjective test. This fully air-conditioned and sound proof room has been imported from Japan.
3. IMPEDANCE TEST ROOM
The children suffering from middle ear problem are tested in this room.
4. HEARING AID ANALYZER SYSTEM
We have this facility to test accuracy of hearing aids.
5. AIR MOULD LABORATORY
This lab was established in our Audiology Unit which is fully equipped and furnished with necessary material with the support of Karachi Taimuoria Lines Club. Our fully trained teachers are responsible to fabricate the air moulds according to the specifications of the hearing aids and the size of the ear of a child.
