Events
To mark its 6th Anniversary and celebrate Christmas, Eid-ul-Azha and New Year, Kiran Vocational Center for Special Children organized a song, dance and tableau competition on 26th December 2006 at its premises. 50 institutes of special children participated in the competition. Ida Rieu’s six deaf students presented a tableau and won the 1st prize. Prize distribution ceremony was held on 3rd February 2007 and our students were presented with a shield of appreciation and a cash award of Rs.2,500.00 which was equally distributed amongst participating students.
50 of our deaf students participated in the Jashan-e-Baharan Festival held at the Special People Park organized by J.S. Academy under the patronage of Mr. Jimmy Engineer.
A Culture Feast was organized by the PECHS Girls School at the PAF Museum on 23rd & 24th February 2007. Both Blind and Deaf students of our school participated in the singing, theatre and art competitions and put up a stall displaying handicrafts prepared by our students which was highly appreciated by the audience.
On the occasion of the WORLD KIDNEY DAY, the Kidney Foundation of Pakistan organized a public awareness walk at the Mazar of the Quaid on 4th March 2007. 100 Blind & Deaf students of our school participated in the walk along with our school band and led the walk which was highly appreciated by the Foundation and an appreciation letter was given to our students.
A Blind Fold Double Wicket Cricket Tournament was organized by Mr. Jimmy Engineer from 12th to 14th March 2007. The cost of the tournament amounting to Rs.40,000 was borne by Mr. Engineer himself. In all 8 teams participated. One team each from Islamabad, Multan, Faisalabad, Hyderabad and Adult Blind Center participated while 2 teams of Pakistan Disabled Foundation and 2 teams of Ida Rieu (Senior and Junior) took part. Id Rieu’s senior team won the tournament and Faisalabad’s team was the runner-up. Thee Honorary Treasurer of Ida Rieu Mr. Maher Alavi inaugurated the tournament and also gave away the prizes at its conclusion. The event was widely covered by the electronic and print media.
A Group of students of CAS School regularly visits our school on every Saturday for an internship program. This year a donation of Rs,60,000 was presented to our school on behalf of the students of CAS School.

On the invitation of the Institute of Business Management, 80 Blind and Deaf students of our school along with 10 teachers participated in a festive program of JASHN-E-BAHARAN-2007 on 16th March 2007. On this occasion our students presented Drama, Songs and Skits which were greatly applauded by the audience. On its conclusion, our students and teachers were entertained.
Mr. Ahsanullah Khan, Deputy General Manager of Bank of Tokyo on behalf of the management of the bank presented a donation of Rs.30,000 for purchase of 2 U.P.S for our Girls & Boys Hostel, 9 Foam Mattresses, 12 Energy savers and a Cricket Kit for our Cricket team.
Mrs. Hawa S. Abdullah, Member Managing Committee of Ida Rieu booked a stall at an exhibition at Karachi Gymkhana where the handicrafts made by our students were displayed, which was greatly appreciated by the people.
On 16th February 2007 a delegation from Islamic Education Board, UK headed by its Vice President Mr. Ghulam Abbas Danani visited our Association. The delegation was warmly received by the Office Bearers and the Managing Committee members and was shown around the premises and its various sections.
Our regular donor Mr. Jossub H. S. Ebrahim along with his wife and his friend Mr. Ahmad Abdullah visited our Association in the first week of March 2007 and presented a cheque of Rs.90,000 as his donation.
The Education & Literacy Department, Government of Sindh organized a town speech competition on the subject “Fight against Poverty & Ignorance”. Many students from different educational institutions participated. Id Rieu was represented by our 2 Blind students; Sohail Asim and Kamran Ibrahim and they were declared winners of the competition.
