School Complex for the Hearing Impaired

The Deaf School of Ida Rieu can today boast of being the largest educational and vocational school cum college of the country where over 800 hearing impaired children, both male and female are imparted free education and vocational training. In addition, the needy and deserving students are also provided hearing aids free of cost. Prior to admission, every student undergoes a free examination/test by a qualified audiologist/doctor to determine the extent of imparity.

The Deaf School is housed in two buildings. The second floor of the first building was constructed through a generous donation of Rupees One Million from the President of Pakistan and a sum of Rs.Three Million from an anonymous lady donor. The second building “Shirin Keshani School Complex for the Hearing Impaired” was gifted to the school by a generous donation from Dr. G.H.V. Keshani, amounting to Rs. 10 Million in memory of his late wife Mrs. Shirin Keshani. The furnishing of this complex valuing Rs.1.50 Million was donated by the family of Late Mr. Adam Karimjee, U.K.
